Carlton Keighley Shortlisted for Secondary School of the Year at the T&A Awards

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for Secondary School of the Year at this year’s Bradford Telegraph and Argus Education Awards.

This recognition follows an exceptional year for the school. In April 2025, Carlton Keighley received a glowing Ofsted report following its ungraded inspection, which praised the school’s leadership, excellent standards of behaviour, the quality of teaching and learning, and the positive, caring inclusive culture across the school. Summer 2025 also saw the school achieve its best ever GCSE maths results, with an 12 per cent increase in students achieving Grade 5 and above.

In addition, the school has seen outstanding progress in literacy, with reading ages increasing by an average of 19 months in a single year, and the number of functionally illiterate students falling by 31%. This remarkable improvement is helping open doors to learning, confidence, and future success for some of the school’s most vulnerable learners.

Mark Turvey, Head of School, said:

“We are thrilled to be shortlisted for this award. It’s a fantastic acknowledgment for all of our school community. I want to thank both the Trust for their ongoing support and our dedicated staff, our parents who work collaboratively with us, but most of all the students, who consistently go above and beyond to achieve their very best. Celebrating both our record GCSE maths results and the significant progress in reading shows the breadth of learning and support we provide – giving every student the tools to succeed, whatever their starting point”.

The Bradford Telegraph and Argus Education Awards celebrate the outstanding work of schools and education leaders across the region. Winners will be announced in April this year, and we wish all of our fellow nominees the very best of luck.

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
